The Best Alternatives to Foundation - Tinted Creams and Skin Tints
Updated Jun 1, 2021 - Originally Posted: Jan 11, 2019
If you’ve ever gone searching for an alternative to foundation, you’ve probably been told to use a tinted moisturiser or BB cream, but more often than not these embody all of the traits that most people hate in foundation, plus more. Whilst tinted moisturisers can be a great alternative to foundation, they’re often thick, greasy, prone to oxidization, take more work to apply and blend than regular foundation, have poor staying power, and an even worse shade range. Whilst there are some great tinted moisturisers (BareMinerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Recovery Gel for example) they’re not necessarily the only option when searching for an alternative to foundation.
This is not a generic list of tinted moisturiser recommendations, but rather a list of skin pick me ups. Moisturisers, creams, primers, and other products that nourish, give a naturally gorgeous glow and the illusion of an even skintone.
Dr. Jart Cicapair Tiger Grass Color Correcting Treatment SPF 30
If you’re after the perfect product to moisturise skin, correct redness, AND provide sun protection, look no further than Dr Jart Cicapair. Whether you suffer from redness, sensitive skin, or just want a product that will make skin look great without all the woes of foundation, this product is a total must have. Upon application the product is a slightly thick green cream, but it quickly dissolves into a perfect, universal beige tint which counteracts redness, blurs pimples, and dries down to a skin-like matte finish. Moisturising and lightweight, the formula has an added bonus of SPF 30, making it the ultimate all-in-one foundation replacement.
MAC Strobe Cream
A cult favourite product and one of MAC’s most famous, the MAC Strobe cream is a multi-use product loved by makeup artists, models, and beauty addicts worldwide. A lightweight moisturising cream, this is a product that can do wonders for the skin when worn alone. Available in many different shades of shimmer, this cream is the perfect pick me up for dull, tired, and lackluster skin. Best of all the variation of shades can help provide subtle colour correction to the skin: peach and red; which can help correct dullness and blue tones in the skin whilst gold can help with redness. There’s no need to worry about looking shimmery or glittery either, the shimmer particles are so fine they blend into skin seamlessly giving an iridescent, subtle glow. It’s a multi-use product too, use it in place of foundation, as a primer, mixed in with a foundation, or as a highlighter!
Laura Mercier Radiance Primer
Designed as a primer to be worn underneath foundation, this product is just as beautiful on its own. With a slight champagne yellow tone it helps to subtly counteract redness, blue tones, and dullness in the skin. The addition of light reflecting particles bounce light off the skin helping to diminish and soften the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, scarring, and freckles. It looks absolutely beautiful when worn alone, or as a substitute for foundation, for an even more flawless finish try buffing the product into the skin using a full, dense, buffing brush.
Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter
A unique, multi-use product, Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Filter is a product unlike anything else you’ve ever tried. A light to medium lotion, this “flawless filter” is really like a filter for your skin, blurring everything in sight. The formula has a medium tint (and comes in a multitude of different tints for different skintones) and packed full of the finest, light reflecting micro-particles to exist. When applied as a replacement for foundation is provides a gorgeous glow to the skin which looks natural and picks up light from different angles to give a 3-dimensional look. Best of all the product can also be used a primer for foundation/concealer, as a highlighter after foundation, or mixed in with your moisturiser, foundation, or primer for a subtle glow.
It Cosmetics Confidence in a Cream Rosy Tone Moisturizer
A new launch from It Cosmetics, the Confidence in a Cream Rosy Tone Moisturizer is perfect for anyone with dull, lackluster, discolored, or aged skin. Packed full of nourishing, and hydrating ingredients the rich cream gives a luminous glow to the skin whilst also resurfacing and re-texturing. A subtle pink rosy tint helps to enhance the appearance of the skin, brighten, and diminish the appearance of dark spots. It’s perfect as a supplement for foundation and gives skin a gorgeous healthy glow and colour. Side note: also check out the L’Oreal Perfect Cell Renewal Rosy Tone Moisturizer, they both have similar ingredients and purposes ( both feature Peony Extract and Lipohydroxy Acid as key ingredients) plus It Cosmetics and L’Oreal have the same parent company, so this is a great drugstore alternative!

Bobbie Cosmetics and the makeup tricks every budding beauty should follow
So, you decided to explore the world of makeup -- and if to some extent you feel overwhelmed, it’s totally understandable. For one, even extreme beauty junkies are always on the lookout for anything that will give them the right knack to up their makeup game.
Bobbie Cosmetics offers quality value-for-money beauty products suitable for young women, as they search for that signature look that enhances the beauty they already have. So, if you are new to makeup and want to learn the basics of cosmetics wizardry, consider this as the ultimate step-by-step guide on how to apply makeup.
Step 1: Do your skincare
First and foremost, makeup applies better when the skin is well-prepped. The essential steps of skin preparation are cleansing, toning, moisturizing, applying sunscreen, and priming. It’s important to religiously protect your skin not only to avoid skin issues down the road, but also to keep a youthful and glowing complexion (your future self will thank you for it!).
Step 2: Apply foundation, color corrector, and concealer
If you’re looking to cover up pimples and dark spots, a full-coverage foundation is your best bet. However, for an everyday look with a more natural fashion, you can totally skip the foundation, and go straight to color corrector and concealer. Bobbie Cosmetics Don’t Go With The Flaw Color Corrector + Concealer palette (Php 299) has a cream formula with 3 different shades fit for every skin tone, to create a flawless and evened out complexion.
STEP 3: Do your eyebrows
Kilay is life, we know, so it’s important to do this in the early part of your routine. Bobbie Cosmetics Retractable Eyebrow Pencil with Brush (Php 165) has a pigmented and creamy formula that’s easy to glide on. Just follow the natural shape of your brows, then start filling in lightly from the center, creating a gradient. For budding beauties blessed with thick eyebrows, a simple brow gel will do to put the hair strands in place.
STEP 4: Contour and blush
Contouring may seem intimidating, but it doesn’t have to be. For starters, powder formula is more suitable for sculpting the hollows of the cheeks, the sides of the nose, the hairline just above the forehead, and jawline. Bobbie Cosmetics Gleam Squad Contour & Strobe (P399) has an easy-to-blend powder formula, with shades that flatter morena skin tones. For blush, Bobbie Cosmetics Poppin’ Cheeks (Php 115) has 5 sheer cheek stains for stunningly-flushed looks. To put on blush, smile big to catch the apples of your cheeks, then apply and blend from there.
STEP 5: Highlight on fleek
Give your natural radiance a boost! Highlighters are designed to accentuate the high points of your face, mainly the center of your forehead, nose bridge, cupid’s bow (the curve on your upper lip!), cheekbones, and brow bone. Bobbie Cosmetics Glow Obsession (Php 299) is a liquid illuminator in shades of Candlelight, Sunset, and Blossom, to give you that lit-from-within glow for a fresh and youthful look.
STEP 6: Glide your lipstick
To complete the look, swipe on a statement lip based on your mood for the day. Bobbie Cosmetics Matte About Hue lip colors (P165) teems with a collection of 23 shades to give budding beauties a sophisticated allure. Tip: For those of you who love matte lipsticks, dab a thin layer of baby powder over your lips, and watch any lipstick finish with a mattifying effect.
So, there you have it! An easy step-by-step guide for all budding beauties out there. For a fool-proof makeup brand that offers good quality and value-for-money products, buy Bobbie Cosmetics from your nearest drugstores, department stores, and supermarkets..

Today, dear readers, I’m talking about the beauty products which never left my side during quick fix emergencies and good times equally. I would say that they are the true MVPs in my beauty arsenal, as of recently.
When I say recently, I mean a month and more of loving these beauty products. It actually feels like light years since I’ve been using them, but I can’t help but fall for them over and again.
Two of the beauty products I’ll be talking about have gotten honorary mentions on my blog and my YouTube channel. The other three are relatively newer visitors in my life, but have already left an impact on me.
Since I am in a rather ‘get-to-the-point’ mood, I will start listing the beauty products that have had my heart these past few weeks. Let’s ride through this, shall we?
Sally Hansen ‘Strobe Light’ Nail Polish
I have quite a few nail polishes in my collection, but this is the one I gravitate towards all the time. You know how they talk about a person who keeps reuniting with their ex, and can’t get over them? Yeaaaah, that’s me and this nail polish from Sally Hansen.
If this nail polish had a personality, it would be ‘delicate waif-meets-artsy millennial-meets party girl’. A moment of silence for what is the most unpolished way of praising a beautiful nail polish. Geddit? Unpolished.. nail polish.. okay, I’ll stop.
‘Strobe Light’ is a beautiful glitter-laden clear nail polish, with rose gold and baby blue flecks. It applies clear on the nails, like I mentioned, but definitely brings that bling factor to the table. I would recommend this method of application for maximum amp: one coat of base color + 2 coats of ‘Strobe Light’.
It wears way longer than all other nail paints I’ve worn all my life, which I am still surprised by. And for reference, I wash dishes by hand vigorously every day. Still, it held on for dear life and sparkled on my nails. I would say that the staying power is upwards of a week, before chipping and wearing off.
If you’ve been coveting the ‘glossier’ vibe, i.e naturally cool girl with one delicate pop of statement, this is your go-to nail color.
Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara
To this mascara, I want to ask: “Where have you been all my life? Also, y u so expensive? I crie everytiem ;_;”
Seriously though, this mascara is bomb diggity dot com. I have the mini, because, a girl is broke as always. But even the mini has lasted me well since December. It has a thick, drier formulation but coats the lashes so beautifully.
I have the washable variant, but it doesn’t feel like it will flake or rub off easily. I haven’t teared up to put it to the test, but I have a feeling it will make me look glamorous even when I cry.
It brings a lot of length to my lashes, but no so much volume. I prioritize length, and so I’m a happy girl. *That’s what she said* 😉 My most favorite thing about this mascara is how it feels like I’m not wearing any, but my lashes still look so fluttery. I’m going to feel so sad once it empties. But I will buy this again later. I won’t let it be the one that got away.
Smith’s Rosebud Salve
I’ll be honest with you: I’m totally in love with the dewy, natural, glossier look these days. There’s something so fresh and easy about it; it does symbolize us playing with what we have and enhancing it in the teeniest bit.
This salve fits in with that ‘au naturale’ aesthetic, and performs very well too. I use it as a lip balm very regularly, and so does my husband. A man who doesn’t give a rat’s ass about skincare likes using this salve for his lips; shouldn’t that say something about its potency?
It is moisturizing, and imparts the most beautiful shine to the lips when worn on its own. You can substitute it for a clear gloss, minus the sticky feel. I have worn it as a topper on other matte lipsticks, to get that pouty lip look. And it wore so well, without clumping up on my lips and removing the lipstick underneath.
I’ve spoken about my love for multipurpose products previously, and this one fits the bill 10/10. I have doubled up this rosebud salve as a blinding, wet highlighter and even rub it on my hand’s knuckles when they get dry. And not to forget, this tin has lasted me FOREVER. I’ve been using it so often since October 2017, and look at the amount of product still left!
So, if you’re looking for a long-lasting all-purpose salve, it doesn’t get better than Smith’s rosebud salve at 6 bucks a pop.
Revlon Colorstay Concealer
I have 4 concealers in total with me, but this is the one I reach out for the most. It is easily the best match for me first, skin tone wise. It matches my complexion in summers when I tan, and in winters when I seem to get paler. What sorcery is this? :O
I use Revlon’s Colorstay Concealer in Medium, which is a yellow-toned medium color with medium coverage. It is perfect for spot concealing, and looks like second skin once blended out. I have used it under my eyes as well, and it does a fairly good job hiding my dark circles. It works well with fingers, brushes and sponges; the best according to me is using it with a flat top brush.
The only con I would state is that it can emphasize dryness during winter season, when dry patches surface. But never fret, it’s nothing a little setting spray can’t fix. 🙂
Ciate London WonderWand Gel Kohl Eyeliner
Eyeliner- the staple makeup item that women (and some men) love to have the world over. What’s not to love-the way it defines the eye shape, the sultriness it hints at, and how it can make one look a little more awake.
I received Ciate London’s Wonderwand liner in an ipsy bag in July 2017, and I was using it on and off. But it came into the spotlight again last month, and hasn’t moved out since. I love how pigmented and smooth it applies, with zero patchiness. Mon dieu, quelle pigmentation! *Shows off the little French I know*
It is a jet black eyeliner you can draw on with one swift move. And the brush at the end is pure magic- it gives the most precise but subdued cat eye flick even if you don’t have experience doing a cat eye!
It doesn’t wear off easily, not even under water. I did a small test by placing a swipe of the liner under water, and rubbing my finger over the swatch several times. It hardly budged, and I felt like a proud parent seeing how it holds so well. 😛
Never letting you go, Wonderwand Eyeliner.

Birthday Haul 2017 part 1.
First up is my Sephora birthday stuff. I literally bought an on sale $3 lipstick to get m birthday stuffs. lol Included in my package: tarte lip.and cheek set, Boscia Exfoliating Peel Gel, a Sephora Color Last lippie, and, of course, samples.
Let’s review!
tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush :: The color is a touch more pink when applied than in the tray, but it gives me a muted, healthy glow. The blush is soft and pigmented. I really like it.
SEPHORA COLLECTION Color Lip Last, Burgundy Spirit :: Pleasantly surprised by this lipstick (especially after quite a few Sephora fails of late which I’ll post here later)! Creamy, smooth, pigmented, and lasts even when drinking (I don't expect lipstick to make it through most food, so rarely test it for that). Considering buying other colors, especially if there are some deeper ones.
Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation + Concealer :: I received this in fair, which is too light for me as a foundation, so I used it as a concealer base for my eye shadow. It's smooth and creamy, and a small amount goes a long way. It's lightweight, with light to medium coverage. It provided a decent base for my eye shadow, but it didn't do more than my usual more affordable brands do. I can't speak to it being moisturizing, or being used as a foundation, but I find it to crease as a concealer.
tarte Tarteist Creamy Matte Lip Paint :: Smooth and creamy, amazing pigment, lasted fairly well, even through eating. Crop Top is surprisingly deep and less mauve than I expected. While it's a great lip paint, though, I don't think I'd buy it when it's not on sale. There are others out there with the same smooth creaminess and depth of color that are less pricey. As much as I love tarte, the price point on this is a touch high for me.
boscia Exfoliating Peel Gel :: I'm on the fence with this. I do feel it cleaned my skin, maybe even exfoliated, but my skin didn't feel soft. It was smooth, but it felt dry, and my usual moisturizer didn't help much. It even became mildly itchy in places. The texture of the product is odd and felt like it dried out as I was using it. Not something I'd use more than once a week, and certainly not something I'd purchase.
Some of these may show up in part 2, which will be my entire birthday haul. I’m waiting on a palette we ordered on the actual day, plus I’ll be making an actual in-store Sephora run Thursday. I want to do a foundation matching, try to find a particular shadow color as close as I can in an individual shadow, take a look at a specific palette and decide if I want it, plus pick up an in-store birthday freebie. Whew!
And in my brush mini-haul (also from Sephora, as I’m sure you can tell, but not purchased for my birthday, just really close to the same time as the birthday stuff): the SEPHORA COLLECTION Classic Angled Blush Brush #40, SEPHORA COLLECTION Classic Bronzer Brush #44, Stila Huge Extreme Lash Mascara, a Benefit all-purpose pencil sharpener, and a few samples.
And here are my reviews....
Supergoop! Everyday Sunscreen with Cellular Response Technology SPF 50 :: I really didn't like this. I tried not to use much at one time, but it took forever to rub into my skin and felt heavy and almost greasy. It left my skin feeling unpleasant to the touch. Even if it did help with sun exposure, I'm unlikely to use it again.
SEPHORA COLLECTION Classic Angled Blush Brush #40 :: Found my highlight/strobe brush! The other brushes were too narrow, but this fits my upper cheek perfectly and sweeps on the color beautifully. The brush is soft and picks up enough product with the first try, and leaves a diffused sweep of color rather than hard or narrow lines. Very happy with it. It does appear that this one and the other brush I purchased are no longer being sold, however.
SEPHORA COLLECTION Classic Bronzer Brush #44 :: This is a really nice brush with dense, soft bristles that feel almost like velvet across the top. It picks up quite a bit of product and can leave a sharp line, but applying by tapping rather than sweeping can help with that. No shedding that I've noticed, and the brush is sturdy with some weight to it. It's labeled as a bronzer brush, but could easily be used for blush or powder as well. I use it for blush, and it gives a nice, natural glow. without too much effort.
Stila Huge Extreme Lash Mascara :: This mascara surprised me. So many promise thicker, longer lashes and need a lot of layers or disappoint. This one delivers on both counts. It's smooth and creamy, and applied easily. Didn't even mind the brush (which isn't one of my favorite brush types). I did add it to my Sephora loves, but I'm not sure if I'd buy it at full price. As good as it is, it is a bit pricey for me.
Dr. Brandt Skincare pores no more Luminizer Primer :: I don't like tinted primer in general, but this had a nice consistency and left a pretty sheen on my skin. I was also surprised at how easily and well my Nyx jar concealer blended out over it (even better than it does with my go to primer). It does seem to help with pores, though I wouldn't say they disappear completely. It's also pricey for me, but might be something I'd use for nights out when I want to put my best face forward.
Pretty happy with all my purchases this time around, and only a couple samples didn’t work out. There’s a few I tried and liked but that are too expensive for me to purchase on a regular basis. I won’t be trying or reviewing perfumes since they tend to aggravate my allergies. Instead, they’ll go into my ProjectBeautyShare.org box to send out next month.

Hello, Monday! Today, I finally have my Summer Edit of all the makeup I have been digging this Summer. This is a collection of my go-to products this year. I was going to include some fashion and accessories but I really haven’t been excited much on the fashion front this Summer. I have really been keeping things simple and comfortable for the most part. Honestly, I am so over Summer at this point and I am ready for Fall.
Anyway. I have been really enjoying some makeup products and I wanted to share those with you, so if you want to see more just keep reading below.
This Edit is almost like a sequel to the Spring Edit so there will some recurring characters in here as well as some new ones.
Skincare
Let’s start out with skincare!
Aveeno Absolutely Ageless Intensive Renewal Serum. L’Oreal Revitalift Moisturizer. Cetaphil Daily Moisturizer with SPF 50
I am still really into my Aveeno Absolutely Ageless Intensive Renewal Serum because it’s so light weight and comfortable for summer. I battle dry skin year round and have been LOVING the L’Oreal Revitalift Moisturizer. It’s quite heavy and only takes a small amount of product to get the job done. It’s made my skin much happier and will be great as we move into cooler months.
Of course, for Summer, a good SPF is a must. I have been loyal to the Cetaphil Daily Moisturizer with SPF 50 for years, for days when I am out and about. It is somewhat heavy and does give a white cast but it works so good and I am pale so the white cast isn’t a biggie for me. Just don’t use this one if you are really oily or going to be in a situation with flash photography.
Complexion
Moving on to complexion, this won’t be much of a surprise if you have read any of my recent posts.
L’oreal Infallible Pro Glow Foundation. L’oreal Infallible Pro Glow Powder. L’oreal Infallible Pro Glow Concealer. Tarte Tarteist Contour Palette
My go-to’s for skin has been the L’Oreal Infallible Pro Glow line. I haven’t been this into a foundation, concealer, and powder in a while. Full review of the concealer and powder are coming up Friday and I have a review of the foundation here: L’oreal Infallible Pro-Glow Foundation Review + Demo
My highlight and contour routine have been light and easy with the Tarte Tarteist Contour Palette. I like it for summer because the shades are warm yet soft enough for pale skin. I have a slight tan (not tan) at the moment and this palette is suiting it perfectly.
Bronzers
E.L.F. Beautifully Bare Full Face Palette. Physicians Formula BB Bronze Booster – Light. Hourglass Ambient Lighting Bronzer Luminous Bronze Light
I wasn’t going to include bronzers because I consistently use the same 3 if I do bronze but this is a Summer Edit and even us Vampires like to have a warm summery complexion sometimes.
I found that just about any of the Physicians Formula Bronzers in light work well for pale skin. The BB Bronze Booster is my trusty go-to. Also from the drugstore is the bronzer in the E.L.F Beautifully Bare Full Face Palette. Despite looking very warm, it actually is very light and not overly pigmented so it adds just a subtle warmth to the skin. Def a great option for fair skin tones.
And of course my Hourglass Ambient Lighting Bronzer Luminous Bronze Light. This bronzer is my holy grail no if ands or buts.
Blush
I love blush. I think it’s such an underrated product. It gives you life, no matter your skin tone or style. It can do wonders for your makeup and in the summer I think a flushed face is so cute.
I have really been into warm peachy tones this Summer.
Milani Baked Blush – Berry Amore. E.L.F Beautifully Bare Full Face Palette
Again, I pulled the two for the E.L.F. Beautifully Bare Full Face Palette. These two are quite similar, one is a bright peachy apricot type of color and the other is a hair deeper and a bit more muted. I use both together. They are just fresh and summery. Like the bronzer, the pigmentation is soft so you can’t over do it. BTW I have a review of the E.L.F. Palette here: e.l.f. Beautifully Bare Natural Glow Full Face Palette Review.
Also from the drugstore is the Milani Baked Blush in Berry Amore. It’s the muted chill counter part to Luminoso with a soft with a slightly luminous finish. It reminds me of an Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush. It’s more than just a blush I love for summer. It’s just a favorite always.
Too Faced Love Flush Blush – Baby Love + I Will Always Love You. Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush – Paarty. Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush – Mood Exposure + Luminous Flush
Some other blushes I am really enjoying this Summer are a couple from Hourglass. The Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Mood Exposure and Luminous Flush. Mood Exposure is not far off from that Milani Baked Blush and Luminous Flush is much warmer and peachy. The texture of these is so good. I have never loved blushes so much. Something about the way they sit on the skin is just so soft and airbrushed.
I have also been reaching for Baby Love and I Will Always Love You from Too Faced when I want a really warm blush and Paarty from Tarte is my no brainer, use on the daily go-to blush.
Too Faced Love Flush Blush Wardrobe Review
Highlighter
Maybelline Master Strobing Liquid – Light. E.L.F Baked Highlighter – Blushed Gems. Nyx Duo Chromatic Illuminating Powder – Snow Rose
I just got the Maybelline Master Strobing Liquid in Light and so far I am really enjoying it, I use it under my foundation, or mixed in and on my high points. I like the shade a lot. It’s an icy cool shade with a pink undertone. I forgot to include it in the picture but I have also been consistently using the Marc Jacobs Beauty Dew Drops Coconut Gel Highlighter. I really like mixing it with my foundation. I have a review of it here: Marc Jacobs Beauty Dew Drops Coconut Gel Highlighter Review
E.L.F. Baked Highlighter is Blushed Gems has really been a favorite this Summer. I didn’t know what I was missing with that little guy. I really love combining it with the NYX Duo Chromatic Illuminating Powder in Snow Rose.
NYX Duo Chromatic Illuminating Powder Review
Eyeshadow
My favorite subject. Eyeshadow and I have quite a few picks for Summer.
E.L.F. Prism Palette. Urban Decay Vice 3. Urban Decay Naked 3. Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance. Too Faced Peanut Butter and Honey.
Of Course ABH Modern Renaissance. Always. But I have really been using the hell out of the Naked 3, especially in early Summer. I have reviewed both these palettes and done tons of looks with them
Urban Decay Naked 3 Review | Swatches | Looks
Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Review + Look Book
Too Faced Peanut Butter and Honey. You know I was loving this one in the Spring and it definitely found its way into my Summer rotation.Especially the shades shown below.
Too Faced Peanut Butter and Honey – Queen Bee + Honey Buns + Feelin’ Nutty
I still so obsessed with this row. I mean, I am all about those funky mustards and puke browns. LOL. If my eye shadow could look like Dwight Schrute’s wardrobe, I would be happy.
Too Faced Peanut Butter and Honey Eye Shadow Palette Review + Looks
Too Faced Peanut Butter and Honey – Honey Brittle + Bee’s Knees
Next up is an oldie. I was digging through my collection and came across this little guy.
E.L.F. Prism Palette
I doubt this is still in stores but I’m sure it can be found online. The E.L.F. Prism Palette is a really great palette. The shades are super pigmented and smooth. The colors in this one really struck me as perfect for Summer. I need to give this little fella some more love.
Another older palette is the Urban Decay Vice 3. I’m sure this one can be tracked down online. I have just been using 2 shades from called Sonic and Bondage. Gives me Naked Heat vibes.
Urban Decay Vice 3 – Sonic + Bondage
I have really been digging into the Kat Von D Shade + Light again since I am working on a review. I had put it aside for a while because got into other palettes but it’s still a classic for year round.
Kat Von D Shade + Light Eye Contour Palette. Kat Von D Metal Matte Palette. Kat Von D Serpentina Palette.
A few shades from the Metal Matte Palette I have been playing around with are Silk, Fringe, and Feather. They should have been in my Spring Edit.
Kat Von D Metal/Matte Palette Review + Looks
Kat Von D Metal Matte Palette – Silk + Fringe + Feather
In the Serpentina Palette which is still one of my favorites, I have been reaching for Bloodmilk a lot.
Kat Von D Serpentina Review + Looks
Kat Von D Serpentina – Bloodmilk
Also Queen and Hieroglyph, More of the Naked Heat vibes. These shades are so good paired with the Shade + Light
Kat Von D Serpentina – Queen + Hieroglyph
A few individuals shadows I love for Summer are these little guys. Most of these came in Ipsy aside from the L’Oreal. You can tell I am loving warm reddish shadows.
The Balm Meet Matrimony – Matt Kumar. Urban Decay – Fireball. L’Oreal Infallible 24 HR Eye Shadow – Eternal Sunshine. Nomad Cosmetics -Marrakesh Eyeshadow Intense Eyeshadow – Spice Market
Eyeliner
I’ve really been into using off black shades for liner, like these from Nyx called Faux Black, they have a variety of almost black colors that add all the depth and drama of black but with a hint of color. I have used Black Olive or Black Berry almost every time I’ve done makeup.
Nyx Faux Black Eyeliner – Black Olive + Black Berry. Colourpop Eyeliner – Get Paid
Get Paid from Colourpop is another great Summer color. I have really been liking it on the lower lash line or waterline for a rose gold pop.
Mascara
You guessed it. Lash Paradise. Enough said. L’Oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise Review – Best Drugstore Mascara?!
I did just discover Benefit Roller Lash. I really have been sleeping on that one.
L’Oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise. Benefit Roller Lash
Lipliner
Lipliners are kind of boring but I thought would include the ones I have reaching for here. Not much to say about them other than that.
MAC Lip Liner – Auburn. Essences Lip Liner – Soft Berry. The Estee Edit Lip Liner – The Barest. Nyx Suede Matte Lip Liner – Soft-Spoken. Makeup Revolution Lip Liner – Echelon from the Retro Matte Lip Kit
Lipstick
A few recurring characters in here from Spring that has made their way over into my Summer looks and some will probably be coming with me into Fall.
Maybelline Loaded Bolds – Coffee Addiction. L’Oreal Colour Riche – Bronzine. Makeup Revolution Renaissance Matte – Luxe. Kat Von D Studded Kiss Lipstick – Archangel. Urban Decay Vice Lipstick – 1993. Colourpop Lippy Stick – Grunge
Still, can’t get stop using Maybelling Loaded Bolds in Coffee Addiction. It’s just that perfect reddish brown over top of most of these deeper lips I have been adding Brozine from L’Oreal Colour Riche for a metallic look.
Maybelline Loaded Bold Lipstick Review and Swatches.
For days when I want a really deep lip, Colourpop Lippy Stick in Grunge is my go-to and when I am in the mood for something a little redder, I have been bouncing between Kat Von D Studded Kiss Lipstick in Archangel or Makeup Revolution Matte Renaissance in Luxe which is not matte at all. It’s more of a satin finish.
Urban Decay Vice Lipstick in 1993 is my no brainer go-to lately. It’s the perfect middle ground.
Kat Von D Studded Kiss Lipstick – Archangel
L’Oreal Colour RIche – Bronzine
Colourpop Lippy Stick – Grunge
Makeup Revolution Matte Renaissance – Luxe
Maybelline Loaded Bolds – Coffee Addiction
Urban Decay Vice Lipstick – 1993
Maybelline Loaded Bolds – Gone Greige. L’Oreal Colour Riche – Mica. Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche – Honeycomb. Kat Von D Studded Kiss Lipstick – Lovecraft + Noble
On the pink and nude spectrum, I have been going for these guys. Well, Maybelline Loaded Bolds in Gone Griege isn’t really a nude, it’s actually a really weird color but I love it paired a cool or warm eye for contrast.
The rest of these are more of my daytime simple makeup choices. Kat Von D Studded Kiss Lipstick in Noble and Bite Beauty Amouse Bouche in Honeycomb are fairly similar in tone, but Noble is lighter and a tad pinker but I go back and forth between the two depending on what I am in the mood for. Lovecraft from KVD is a holy grail kind of color, no matter the makeup, she works.
Like with Bronzine from L’Oreal, I have been using L’Oreal Colour Riche in Mica as a metallic topper. I showed it alone below and over a liner. The metallic shades in the L’Oreal Colour Riche range are really nice. They have a light, slippy texture that pair really well with matte shades.
Kat Von D Studded Kiss Lipstick – Lovecraft
Kat Von D Studded Kiss Lipstick – Noble
L’Oreal Colour Riche – Mica
L’Oreal Colour Riche – Mica with Liner
Maybelline Loaded Bolds – Gone Greige
Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche – Honeycomb
Liquid Lipstick
Nyx Liquid Suede – Soft-Spoken. Too Faced Melted Matte – Queen Bee. Tarte Tarteist Lip Paint – Birthday Suit. Nyx Soft Matte Lip Cream – Abu Dhabi
I believe 3 of these were in my Spring Edit but oh well, I’m still wearing them. Especially, Nyx Liquid Suede in Soft Spoken.
Nyx Liquid Suede Review and Swatches
My newest addition to the rotation is Nyx Soft Matte Lip Cream in Abu Dhabi, I forgot all about how much I loved this shade.
Nyx Soft Matte Lip Cream – Abu Dhabi
Nyx Liquid Suede – Soft Spoken
Tarte Tarteist Creamy Matte Lip Paint – Birthday Suit
Too Faced Melted Matte – Queen Bee
Lipgloss
I have said before I am not a huge fan of lipgloss but I actually have really been enjoying these 3.
Buxom Full-On Lip Cream – White Russian. MAKE UP FOR EVER Artist Plexi-Gloss – 202 – Sweet Pink. Lancôme Le Metallique Metallic Lip Lacquer – Mirrored Nude
I have talked about Buxom Full-On Lip Cream in White Russian and my love of Lancôme Le Metallique Metallic Lip Lacquer in Mirrored Nude. I rediscovered the MAKE UP FOR EVER Artist Plexi-Gloss in Sweet Pink. It’s a nude gloss with no sparkle, boring AF but for some reason, I have been liking it.
Nail Polish
Whim – Spanish Lover. Julep – Veronica. Sinful Nail Polish – Creme Del A Creme + Bananappeal. Kat Von D x Formula X – Lovecraft
Nothing much exciting here either. I am a creature of habit with my nails. I get fixated on a few and those are my obsessions which are the opposite of my makeup habits. I rarely use the same stuff consistently so that’s why I don’t do monthly favorites. If I have something I really like I put it in my weekly edits but I bounce all over the place for makeup. I really have to narrow myself down for these type of posts because I want to include my whole damn collection, we will see if I can do better in the fall. I want to add in some fashion and style stuff in that post too. We shall see. Like I said though, I am just burned out on Summer. I’m in a Summer funk.
I do have one more Summer themed makeup tutorial coming up but it’s not what you think it’s going to be. Hint: It’s titled Dirty Black Summer. LOL Current Mood: Dirty Black Summer.
Okay, guys, I will see ya Wednesday. I think we will be discussing the Infamous Sub-Culture Palette so give me a follow so you don’t miss it! I’m gonna listen to Lana and do some makeup.

Often People have a misconception that expensive products are better than the cheap ones. But bad and good products can be found in any price range. When it comes to our makeup, skin, and hair, spending a lot of money is not always necessary. Plenty of drugstore items will get the job done.
But the drugstore makeup and beauty aisle is notoriously difficult to navigate — with so many options to choose from, it can be tough to know which drugstore makeup and beauty products are worth your money. I often look out for products that are easy on pocket I mean there is something deeply satisfying about saving money. And nothing gives us more of a rush than scoring an amazing lipstick or mascara without spending a fortune.
So I have compiled a list of products for each category so you can create a perfect Budget Makeup vanity for yourself–
Primar
Aloe vera gel, It works amazingly by filling up your pores and provide a sheer layer which helps to hold the makeup for a longer time.
Nivea Aftershave Balm Sensitive for Men, it may come as a shock to some, to use a men’s after shave as a makeup primer, but this one is truly a find. It has a faint musk smell which resides after a while, After that, it works on like any other primer. 100ml bottle costs around INR 212/-
Coloressence Pre Makeup Base: If you’re looking for a fabulous makeup primer under Rs 500 then do try this makeup base from Coloressence. The smooth velvety texture and non-oily formula will not only give you luxurious feel but it will also hold your foundation, BB cream, and blushes in place for long hours. I have been using it since many months and I personally love it. Price: 500 INR
Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser Primer, This one is probably the most used drugstore primer by almost all beauty lovers, It costs around $6.99/-. Sadly it’s not easily available in India. But thanks to the internet you can get it shipped from the states.

My Prom Experience
On Friday evening, June 30, 2017, I attended my last secondary school event with people I have known for 5 years. I have to say that the experience was definitely a fitting finale to this chapter of my life. It really gave me a chance to reflect on how much I have learnt and grown over this period of time. I know that I have made so many friends for life and that I have met some truly unforgettable people.
Our prom was hosted in the function room of our local zoo. This may sound odd but it was quite incredible – the tables were so nicely laid out with white ribbons and balloons, and there was a dance floor right in the middle of the room, which you had to go down a few steps to access. We got a view of the whole zoo which was pretty incredible, and we were allowed to go outside (although not into the wider zoo grounds) to take lots of really amazing pictures.
The Run-up to Prom
The evening before prom was time I dedicated to small preparations such as sorting out my nails. I painted them myself, red to match my prom dress, using a Miss Sporty Lasting Colour Nail Polish in the shade 540, Boys Love Me. It is supposed to last 10 days and it’s brilliant as at the time of writing I have had it on for 3 days and the colour has not faded at all! I thought that this was a really great, inexpensive nail polish to use and I highly recommend it as it applies very smoothly and gives a lovely shine. It cost me only £1.99 which was fantastic! I also pampered myself with a charcoal face mask and went to bed earlier so I could look fresh the next day.
The morning of prom I took a shower where I could apply a hair mask and shave my legs. The hair mask allowed me to restore natural oils to my hair whilst removing any residue from hairsprays and other hair products I use. Once out of the shower I made sure to lotion my arms and legs to lock in moisture and leave them feeling smooth.
I then carried on with my day as normal until about 2 o’clock, when my mum brought her friend over to do my hair. I had chosen a tutorial I found on YouTube by Lilith Moon for a braided updo. We finished it off with some gorgeous screw in pearls to make it extra special and applied lots of hairspray so it would last all night.
After this, I put on my base makeup in preparation for my sister returning home to do the more complex stuff for me. I started out by moisturising my face using Aveeno lotion and then applying a small amount of the Benefit Porefessional Primer to fill in my pores and make them less visible. I then moved on to use the Maybelline Better Skin Foundation in Sand, the Camouflage concealer by Essence for my undereyes and the Maybelline Fit Me! concealer for my blemishes. I blended it all out using an oval shaped brush. I also packed my silver clutch bag with my ticket, some spare change for drinks, a power bank and my perfume. I planned to pack my phone and my lipstick later on.
My sister then proceeded to transform my look from everyday to special occasion. She used a gorgeous Makeup Revolution Eyeshadow Palette called New-trals vs Neutrals which is super pigmented and has lots of lovely shades. It cost £6.99 which I think is well worth it for the quality and number of shades you get. She completed the cut crease eye look by applying lots of silver glitter eyeliner to part of my eyelids to give me that extra sparkle. You can get lots of inexpensive glitter eyeliners from Superdrug, Boots or even Poundland! I also wore the Rimmel Kate Moss Lipstick in the shade 107 Wine which is a gorgeous colour that stays on for a long time. I wore a gold highlighter from Tanya Burr’s Christmas Collection, some bronzer and had my brows filled in with a brow pencil and some Essence eyebrow gel.
Here is the finish look:
I then got into my red dress and finished it off with a necklace, a red rose corsage, pearl dangly earrings, silver heels and my clutch.

A few photos in the garden later and then we were off to my lovely friend Maddie’s house to catch a ride in our transportation for prom.
Travelling to Prom
We decided that we wanted to take a really classy vehicle to prom – so what better than a beautiful dark green VW Camper van?
My friends and I with our prom transportation
The colour of the camper van complemented all of our dresses wonderfully and it was beautifully upholstered. I sat in the front seat whilst my three friends sat in the back. We were taken by the driver to a few locations to have pictures done with the dream machine before we actually arrived at the venue.

He took a few pictures of use all laughing which actually turned out great, as well as a couple of others.
And of course, we had to take some group selfies as well…

This is probably my favourite though:
Beautiful best friends
Then, we arrived outside the zoo where so many parents, teachers, friends and classmates were waiting for us. It was an amazing feeling looking at how well everybody cleaned up for our last event together as a year group. ❤
With some friends
Eventually, they let us into the venue (although not without a check for our tickets and a bag search) so we could go off and party!
Prom
The start of the prom itself was a frenzy to secure seats and tables and to get lots of pictures with people. I was very social, going around and greeting people and telling them how lovely they all looked. I’m so thankful and blessed at the number of compliments I received as well. ❤
I saw a lot of teachers, including my Chemistry teacher who is leaving my school at the end of this year. I was lucky enough to get pictures with her and a couple of other friends too.
Me and my chemistry teacher
Three girls in red
Two of my favourite people
We had buffet food including chips, sausage rolls, quiche, peppers and sandwiches. The queue was long but well worth it as by this point I was starving!
After we had finished our food it was time to get on the dance floor! For me, this was 100% the highlight of my evening. The DJs were killing it on the turntables and soon near enough everyone was dancing. So many people abandoned their shoes to join in on the action. It was amazing to form a giant circle of people during songs and have people show off their moves in the middle of it! Some of the teachers even joined in and went a bit mad on the dance floor (even our headteacher!)
There is something inexplicably fun about dancing and singing along to all of the songs with your friends. We demonstrated our dancing skills during YMCA, screamed the lyrics of Despacito, performed the Macarena in style. We rocked out to Beyonce’s Crazy in Love, went mad doing the Cha Cha Slide with teachers and classmates and held hands in a ring with one another during Coldplay’s A Head Full Of Dreams – whilst singing with equal enthusiasm! I even got picked up by one of my guy mates and spun around unexpectedly! We had started out a little awkwardly at first but eventually let all inhibitions go and went crazy with our moves. They do say that the crazier you dance, the better it looks!
I danced and laughed so much and just let myself live in the experience. Some of the Zoo staff were dancing along as they started to tidy up the venue, which was equally hilarious and also impressive to watch as some of them had really great dance moves. People were shooting videos left, right and centre for Snapchat and the like. There were strobe lights that went in time with the music and it made the entire atmosphere so magic and energetic. I didn’t want it to end and never even wasted a second, constantly dancing along with increasingly more ambitious and absurd dance moves.
Towards the end of the night, at about ten minutes to eleven, they switched all of the lights back on in the function room and turned off the music. Everybody started shouting for one more song and at the Head Teacher’s say so, we got one more song – Dancing in the Moonlight by Toploader. That song is such a classic and it will forever be special to me as the anthem of the prom. It was amazing just dancing and singing along with my maths teacher, best friends and year coordinator. The song felt like it lasted forever and we made use of every second that we had.
Regretfully, we started making our way out of the zoo. We took one last photo and I hugged a couple of people goodbye who I’m not sure I’ll ever see again. The ending was the most bittersweet part of it all, knowing that whilst I have the most incredible evening, and indeed 5 year experience, I may never see some of these wonderful people again. 😦 As we made our way out of the zoo gates (which were initially locked, leaving us wondering whether we were being held captive for the night) I started to play Whitney Houston’s Dance With Somebody, a song which is very special to a friend of mine and myself. Soon everybody started to join us in singing along as we made our way to our lifts home and hugged each other goodbye.
It was one of the best evenings of my life and something I will treasure throughout my life. It was the perfect way to mark the end of an era and to reunite with so many amazing people one last time. If you ever get the opportunity to go to prom, do because I can’t imagine myself not having gone!
Big love to all of the members of my year group. ❤ ❤ ❤
I will end this post with a little slideshow of my prom pictures.
xoxo

March was a funny month for me. I had major surgery on March 8th so have basically spent the whole month sitting; sitting on my Mum’s sofa and sitting in my bed, so I thought my favourites for March would basically consist of the TV and my laptop. It turns out, however that I’ve kept myself a lot busier than I thought! I’ve taken the opportunity to experiment with some makeup looks, have found & rediscovered lots on Netflix, have been enjoying products designed to make life at home easier and of course, have been indulging myself with pampering hair & skin products. Just for you, my beautiful readers, are the products which have been my favourites during March. Let me know your thoughts if you have used some of these, and if not I can highly recommend trying them out.
Makeup
So first of all, happy Spring! The clocks went forward this month and Spring officially started meaning the flowers are .. well, flowering and bringing beautiful colours to our surroundings, the sunshine is shining, super cute lambs are bleating & bouncing around the fields and everyone just seems to be smiling a little bit more. Could the winter grumps finally be over?! I must admit, I’m an Autumn/Winter girl but even I can’t deny how great it is to see nature waking up and to feel the sun on my face. All of the colours out there have inspired my makeup looks to be brighter too so without further ado, let me curate the makeup products which were my favourites in March.
NYX Stay Matte but not flat foundation: I discovered NYX after watching RuPaul’s Drag Race. A lot of the Queens on the show use NYX products and so I went a huntin’ and have ended up being one of the brand’s biggest fans! My skin can flit between being oily and being dry and when it’s oily, some foundations can make me look as though I’ve used baby oil instead of setting powder and so I set out to find a great matte finish foundation exactly for those days. I tried a couple of foundations and primers but the NYX Stay matte but not flat foundation won hands down. At the moment, before the tan starts, I sit between the first two shades in the range so I mix SMF01 & SMF02 but once my tan is giving me my summer glow, I’ll be fine to use SMF02 with a bronzer and channel my inner J-Lo glow.
NYX Liquid suede: Oh. My. Days. I am obsessed with these liquid suede lip colours and they are my absolute favourites of all time. Ever. I discovered these when I wanted a matte burgundy lip colour (my go to look during the colder months) and have been hooked ever since. The colours are so vivid it’s ridiculous and however the colour looks on the packaging will absolutely be the colour which goes on your lip. In fact I sometimes don’t think the packaging does the product justice! The range of colours is phenomenal and are so easy to apply without drying your lips and dry to an amazingly beautiful matte finish. I only ever have to touch up a tiny amount toward the inside of my lips after eating and drinking so I can absolutely vouch for the staying power of these awesome lip colours.
NYX Lip Lingerie: I promise there are more brands coming! I found the Lip Lingerie range whilst drooling over the Liquid Suede colours which were on the same stand at my local Boots store. What a fantastic range of nude shades for a more everyday look or to go with a statement eye which is one of my favourite looks to wear. I usually struggle with the word ‘nude’ being used to describe a colour or a shade as it has generally meant one shade which is ridiculous! There is no one shade that can be described as ‘nude’ for everyone and so it makes me deliriously happy to see such a huge range of nude shades appearing on the shelves. These lip colours glide on, dry to a matte finish and stay put all day meaning I can just get on with my day without having to worry that my makeup needs constant attention.
Sleek All Day Soiree eye & cheek palette: I received this palette as part of a recent Glossybox delivery and is the first time I have tried a Sleek product. I’ve been really impressed with the shades which are perfect for Spring and love the way they build and blend. I have been using this palette along with the NYX Lip Lingerie to create my fabulous everyday natural look. These powders are so beautiful, I can’t wait to try more Sleek products.
Makeup Revolution Ultra Contour Palette: I love a Makeup Revolution palette so much. I have soooo many palettes from this brand and pretty much can’t go into Superdrug without buying a new one to the amusement of my family. I wanted to try contouring properly after years of strobing but with fair skin, some of the contour shades seemed way too dark for me. I saw this palette online and there seemed to be some lighter shades which could be built up as desired. Once I saw the palette in the flesh it instantly found its way into my basket and I’ve been hooked ever since! I love the way the powder glides onto my skin and blends super easily. The colour payoff is second to none in my eyes and as a newbie to contouring I love the difference it has made to my looks. Makeup Revolution also had their 3rd birthday this month so congratulations to the team!
Maybelline Go Colossal mascara: This has been my favourite mascara for years. I’m lucky enough to have really long, thick eyelashes naturally and so a good mascara can really make a difference. I went through a phase of wearing permanent individual lashes and so didn’t need to wear mascara for a couple of years. Now I’m back to rocking my natural lashes and I’m so pleased to see that this is still my ‘go to’ mascara. I very rarely need more than one coat of this super dark mascara and don’t get any clumps at all. The amazing shape of the brush fits my eye shape perfectly and gets into both corners, picking out those shorter lashes along the way. It’s super easy to remove too so there’s no rubbing of my eyes at all.
MUA Luxe Set & Reflect: When I started getting more and more obsessed with makeup, MUA was the first brand I went to. The price point is amazing with a lot of their products starting at £1! Quality wise, their products are just as good if not better than a lot of brands out there which just makes the price even better. If you’re on a budget or are starting out and don’t want to invest a lot into experimenting then I can highly recommend MUA. The Set & Reflect compact is amazing. I love the flecks of gold in the highlighter which gives such a warm, healthy glow to your look. The highlighter glides, isn’t harsh at all and is buildable meaning you can achieve the look you want easily. Underneath the highlighter is a translucent setting powder which is my absolute favourite! The setting powder goes on without any caking at all and does exactly what it says on the package! It sets my makeup beautifully all day long.
Skincare
Obviously all of this makeup needs to sit on a beautiful canvas and so I’ve been ensuring my skin is cleansed and treated properly. I enjoy loading my skin with moisture and removing my makeup so much at the end of the day and these are the products which have been making my sensitive, hormonal skin the happiest throughout March.
No7 Beautiful Skin Melting Gel Cleanser: I discovered gel cleansers through a Glossybox and as I’m constantly striving to keep my dry skin looking healthy, I wanted to try some more. I bought three gel cleansers and this has definitely come out on top. It’s fragranced only very lightly but very beautifully and makes me feel as though I’m giving my skin a gorgeous spa treat. The cleanser glides over my skin in gel form and just melts my makeup in seconds. It rinses off so easily and turns into a milk as soon as water touches it so you have no oily residue to contend with. I like to double cleanse and even with that, this cleanser doesn’t leave me feeling clogged up in the slightest. It doesn’t dry my skin out or leave it feeling tight or sensitive and I just love it so much!
Bio Oil: I have been using Bio Oil since my early 20s when I started having knee surgeries and had both of my daughters via c-section. I wear my scars with pride so wasn’t too concerned about them being visible but they can and do get tight and so a product which combats this is essential. My scars have however, faded to silver slivers and I’m sure that using Bio Oil has contributed to this. Having had my last surgery a the beginning of March I have been using this daily to keep the new scars supple and they are healing so fast and so well! I use this on any part of my body which needs some TLC and it never lets me down. Even using it on my face doesn’t leave me feeling clogged and so Bio Oil will always be a staple of my skincare bag.
Sanctuary Spa 2 Day Moisture Shower Oil: I absolutely adore Sanctuary Spa! Their products are so beautiful and so luxurious and the scent of this product is just heavenly. I use this shower oil just before I finish my shower, after I rinse my hair and after I’ve exfoliated and washed just to give my skin that extra indulgent level of moisture. Depending on what I want to wear, I often don’t like to apply my moisture cream until I’m getting ready for bed otherwise I find it makes getting dressed difficult, gets all over my clothes and just doesn’t feel great so this is the perfect way to moisturise my skin, leave it feeling supple and smelling gorgeous so that I can get dressed and get on with my day.
Sanctuary Spa 5 Day Moisturising Creamy Body Oil: In the evening when I’m getting into my favourite PJs, I like to apply a really good body moisturiser. This, in my opinion is the best one around at the moment. As you would expect from Sanctuary Spa this smells absolutely amazing and the creamy/oily consistency feels so luxurious! I love how this glides onto my skin and is absorbed so easily leaving me relaxed and comfortable for the evening.
Hair
I have really long hair and although it looks thick, it’s actually really fine (there’s just a lot of it!) and because of this it can take a lot of looking after. Luckily at the moment I have found the holy grail, products which my temperamental hair actually likes and has continued to like for more than a handful of washes!
Aussie Mega Shampoo & Conditioner: As it says on the bottle, this rinses clean with no build up and even my long locks can attest to that! The largest portion of my shower can easily be spent trying to rinse my hair, only to find whilst drying it that there is still some residue left however, with this there is none of that. It rinses easily and cleanly, smells amazing and leaves my hair squeaky clean and ready for a good condition. The conditioner in the Mega range is just as brilliant as the shampoo with its light, fresh scent and even lighter feel. This also rinses just as easily and conditions so deeply without needing to be thick and gloopy. If I want an extra level of luxury for my hair then I whack out the Aussie Mega 3 Minute Miracle deep conditioning treatment but as an everyday shampoo & conditioner, these are a firm favourite in Leila Land.
Batiste Dry Shampoo: Again, having long hair can make it difficult to style day to day. The weight of it can drag it down and it being fine can make it appear greasy really quickly. I get dry skin and greasy hair, go figure! This is my salvation on days in between washes and on days where I need a little extra volume for my style. I love how fresh the scent of this is too and is definitely the one I reach for again and again.
Organisation
Being a busy Mum and professional scatterbrain, I need all of the help I can get when it comes to being organised. These are the products that have saved my bacon on a near everyday basis this month.
Zoella Lifestyle organiser: I love the well thought out sections in this organiser which allow you to create daily ‘to do’ lists which can be split into a.m. and p.m., log your larger goals and see them each time you open the organiser to keep them in the forefront of your mind and tick off as you achieve them, a set of post-it notes to leave yourself little messages & reminders and sticky tabs to highlight the things you need to get to quickly or apply a little urgency to. For example, I have a book of ideas for planning my YouTube content as well as blog posts and attach the exclamation point sticky tabs to the pages I need to access that week which makes them easy to find and keeps me on track. I also love the grey/copper design of this organiser. Very on trend and makes it a joy to use.
Evernote This app is absolutely awesome! There are so many useful features of this app and I’m sure I’m only using a small percentage of it. I mainly use Evernote for ‘to do’ lists which I can share with my kids, especially as it’s all hands on deck here at the moment. You can digitally tick off each item on the list and as the content is synced across each device, everyone knows where they’re up to and what’s expected of them. Evernote is super helpful when you have projects on the go. If I’m planning to decorate a room I can attach pictures I may find online, add them to a project, write notes to go with it, leave links to go back and purchase the item and loads more. Love it, love it, love it.
House
I am massively houseproud and erm, proud of it! I feel my happiest and calmest when my surroundings are clean, tidy and calm. Nice & fresh soft furnishings, clean & shiny floors and some beautiful incense & a scented candle burning and I’m a happy Leila.
Flash Power Mop & Washable Mop Pads Ok so to you this may not be the most exciting thing that anyone has ever included in a favourites list but to me, it is! I appreciate a good mop so much and had one of these a long time ago. I kept seeing the pads and the solution in supermarkets but couldn’t find the actual mop which seemed a bit odd but wasn’t anything essential. Not until I had my surgery that is! I can just about stand up and shuffle about long enough to mop the floors (something which needs doing ridiculously regularly having two labradors and two children!) and so messing about lifting & carrying buckets full of soapy water multiple times a day as well as the mop was just too difficult. Amazon to the rescue when I found not only the mop but also a separate listing for the wash & re-use mop pads!!! It sounds silly but being able to sweep and then just immediately take one unit and clean the floors makes me feel as though I can keep things fresh at home without undoing the excellent work which my surgeon has done. I hate being surrounded by mess so a product which makes life easier is definitely a favourite in my eyes!
So that’s pretty much my March in a nutshell. What are some of your favourite things recently? Let me know in the comments and don’t forget to subscribe.
Thanks for reading. Lots of love, Leila xx
Monthly round up – March 2017 March was a funny month for me. I had major surgery on March 8th so have basically spent the whole month sitting; sitting on my Mum's sofa and sitting in my bed, so I thought my favourites for March would basically consist of the TV and my laptop.

Hey loves. Today I will be sharing my current skincare routine. Lately my skin has been cooperating with only a pimple here and there. I have combo to oily skin so I try stick to good quality products or a good price. I do tend to switch up some of my products so my skin doesn’t get use to one thing. For morning skincare I keep it simple and gentle. I do acne treatments and face masks, when needed, doing my night time skincare. Since moving further south and the winter being a little warmer, I’ve had to adjust my skincare.
Cleanser:
ELF daily face cleanser
Ulta face cleansing sponge
This is my cleansing tools. The ELF daily cleanser is very gentle and feels really good on the skin. It doesn’t leave my skin feeling stripped of moisture. Every other day I use this sponge and cleanser together for a light exfoliate. I buy these sponges in multi pack at Ulta for just less than $10. Great combo to gentle exfoliate so that your next steps can really soak into the skin.
Toner:
Clean and clear deep cleaning astringent
This is not my favorite toner but it gets the job done. It works in a pinch. It cleans out the pores but it is a little too strong for me and if I get to close to my eyes it will sting a little. I prefer the Lancome tonique radiance(High end), lancome tongue pure focus(High end), Mary Kay acne control toner (affordable), or the formula 10.0.6 so totally clean pore cleanser acne treatment (affordable). I keep a toner in my skincare because I can tell a difference when I don’t use it. Toner keeps my pores clean, breakouts clear, and oils controlled.
Moisturizers:
Pur cosmetics soak it up intense hydrating moisturizer
Sculpt 100% argan oil
I really love the Pur soak it up moisturizer. It is a gel moisturizer that is ideal for oily skin because it quickly soaks into the skin. Since it is winter I add a few drops of the argan oil for a little extra light moisture.
Lancom bienfait multi-vital eye
A really great eye cream with great SPF 28. This a nice thick cream that lays beautifully on the skin.
Mac strobe cream
like to use this under my foundation to add a healthy glow to the skin without looking greasy.
Nivea Lip Butter
Great for the lips. I put this on as soon as I wake up in the morning to give it time to soak into the lips.
This is the products I am currently using. Some I love, and some work for now. I switch it up to keep my skin the best it can be.
Thank you all for stopping by. And don’t forget to like, comment, and subscribe.
Smooches,
Kim B
